Stuart Kaufman Obituary

Stuart Max Kaufman, 62, of West Haven, CT passed away on November 3, 2021.  Born in Bronx, NY, to Sara (Neugarten) and Allen Kaufman, he grew up in Whitestone, Queens.  He graduated from the selective Bronx High School of Science and attended SUNY New Paltz and St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD.  He had a variety of jobs during his working years, including at a toy store where he enjoyed playing Santa Claus during the holidays.  Stuart had an avid interest in politics and current events.

In 2019, he relocated from Annapolis to West Haven to be closer to family; he was appreciated by people who knew him in CT as funny, personable and pleasant.  Devoted partner and caregiver to Patricia Swartz for many years.  Predeceased by his mother Sara; cherished son of Allen and stepson of Pearl; loving brother of Eva (Larry) of Orange, CT and William of New Orleans, LA; dear father of Karen Swartz of Odense, Denmark and beloved uncle of Clare of Orange, CT.  Stuart is also missed by his cat and faithful companion, Lennie.  He was laid to rest in the Orange Center Cemetery.  Donations can be made in memory of Stuart Kaufman to The Greater New Haven Cat Project, Inc. Oak Grove Cremation Service is in care of arrangements.
