James Warren Dey, age 91, of Milford died June 29, 2021. He was born September 15, 1929, in New Haven, CT. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Airforce, married, raised a family, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. He worked at S.N.E.T from 1964 until his retirement in 1986.
Up until 3 years ago, Jim met monthly for over 40 years with the S.N.E.T. pizza group. It was an opportunity to remember “the good old days”, “catch up with family news” and “a chance to be in each other’s company”. Paul, Tom, Gerry, John, Ed and Larry, you were a very special group of friends to him; he spoke highly of all you and treasured your fellowship.
He loved riding his tractor, plowing in winter and mowing in summer and would offer a helping hand whenever the need arose in his neighborhood. Jim mentored his next-door neighbor Geri periodically during their 30+ year friendship in the art of DIY and mechanical projects. They spent many hours in conversation, giving each other advice, debating, sparing and laughter. Although Jim probably would not admit it, he considered him as one of the family.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet L. Dey of Milford and son David K. Dey of Stamford.
A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held on July 26 at 1:00 PM in State Veteran’s Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. To leave an online condolence for James’ family, please visit www.oakgrovecremation.com
